Academically, Dr. McIntyre graduated with his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1980. He then went on to perform his internship and residency in emergency medicine at West Virginia University in 1981 and 1982, respectively.
Successful in his field, he is board-certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. It certifies emergency physicians who meet its educational, professional, and examination standards.
In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, Dr. McIntyre is a member of the American Medical Association.
Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician works in an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients on an unscheduled basis.
