Chillers, also known as chilled water systems, play a key part in modern day lives, so much of which can be seen and experienced every day and often taken for granted. Companies rely on industrial process chillers for the production of components in factories which are used in all products around the home and in everyday cars. Chillers are also used to cool down buildings and facilities such as office blocks, hotels and hospitals. However, there are aspects of water chillers which people are unaware of and sadly aspects which account for an estimated 10% of global Carbon emissions.
It is a staggering figure and to put that number into perspective, one that eclipses the annual combined Carbon emissions of shipping and aviation industries.
A percentage of emissions caused by chilling plant, currently are unavoidable, but a Senior Spokesman at Maximus Chillers, believes that it can be reduced with a change in attitude towards the way we maintain and prolong efficiency of chillers. Furthermore, given that it is a more cost effective and environmentally friendly approach, at a time when businesses are struggling financially, post pandemic and climate change is a clear and present danger. This may seem like a no brainer to most…. because it is. Which is why it is baffling to Dave Thompson at Maximus Chillers, as to why more firms are not adopting similar services to the ones they offer.
Maximus Chillers are entering into their seventh year and the firm’s staunch initial ethos and ongoing campaign to educate both engineers and clients on the fiscal & environmental benefits of maintaining the efficiency and prolonging the lifespan of chillers, is as strong as ever.
Dave Thompson explains; “Companies have been pledging to reduce Carbon emissions produced by chillers for over 30 years, but the culture of dispose and replace, remains. The reality is that over 80% of all a chiller’s Carbon emissions occur on disposal. So many of these disposals are unnecessary and avoidable. It’s a crazy situation and an issue we are training engineers to identify and pass the message on to our clients. Regular maintenance, replacing individual components, not only improves a chiller’s operating efficiency and in turn reduces the client’s running costs of the plant, at a time when energy bills are rocketing. It also increases the lifespan of the chiller, thus decreasing the number of chillers disposed of and client’s capital outlay on new chillers. How can that not make sense? Reducing costs and helping a spiralling environmental issue. I am sure that if Greta Thunberg were to visit Droylsden and see the message we are trying to get across, she would approve.”
It makes such simple sense and sometimes the most obvious idea works best when hindsight is applied. To get an depth look into the strategy of Maximus Chillers, more details can be found at: https://maximuschillers.com/chiller-service/
