STEVENS Engineers & Constructors Explains the Kind of Equipment Millwrights Work On

May 08, 2023 - /PressAdvantage/ - STEVENS Engineers & Constructors, a company based in Middleburg Hts, OH, has recently published an article explaining what kind of equipment a millwright works on. A millwright is a tradesperson who is experienced and skilled in installing, maintaining, and repairing specialized equipment and industrial machinery. They are also skilled, knowledgeable, and experienced in handling various tasks, such as assembly, calibration, and alignment of most heavy machinery.

Millwrights can also install replacement parts, perform machine maintenance, and lubricate and recalibrate heavy machinery. This usually happens during outages or shutdowns, but it can also be done during an emergency shutdown or when a machine breaks. Some of the equipment that millwrights can install include: rotors; turbines; motors; bearings; gears; processing equipment, like extruders; steel mill equipment like furnaces; and more. STEVENS has a team of millwrights for providing comprehensive services to their clients in various industries, such as manufacturing, construction, steel mills, and more.

The STEVENS millwrights follow several steps in the installation of the equipment. The first step is planning and preparation, which includes evaluating the site, determining equipment needs, and securing the necessary permits and approvals. They will need to carefully assess the job site to ensure that the equipment is appropriate for installation. They will also ensure that the proper equipment is chosen and will function correctly in that specific environment. Next, they will develop a detailed plan for the installation process. Lastly, they will ensure that the required permits and approvals are obtained to ensure the installation complies with the local regulations and safety rules.

The second step is the equipment arrival and unloading. Millwrights will be utilizing the correct equipment and methods to unload the equipment to ensure that it is not damaged during the process. After the unloading, the millwright will inspect the equipment for any signs of damage or other problems that may have happened while the equipment was being transported. If any issues are discovered, the millwright will coordinate with the supplier to resolve them before continuing with the installation process.

The third critical step is equipment assembly and testing. The STEVENS team of millwrights will use the appropriate tools and methods to assemble the equipment properly and ensure that all connections and parts are secure. After the assembly is complete, they will run several tests to ensure that the equipment is running correctly and its performance is as expected concerning its mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems. The equipment is then aligned and calibrated, and any problems discovered during testing will be resolved.

The fourth key step is equipment installation and commissioning. This involves the physical installation of the equipment at the job site, commissioning the equipment to make sure it is operating correctly, and training the site personnel on its proper use and maintenance. After the installation, millwrights will also perform follow-up and maintenance to ensure the equipment continues functioning correctly.

Those interested in learning more about the roles of the millwright can visit the STEVENS Engineers & Constructors website or contact them through the telephone or by email.
