Within their collection, Soulgift Journals has cultivated a modern approach to journaling that entwines the art’s roots. On the inside of the journals, users get plenty of space for writing, and the exterior backside of each themed journal offers encouragement and direction that stimulates users to begin writing.

In the age of fast-paced lifestyles and the over-use of possible eye damaging “screen time,” customers are encouraged to incorporate the now-ancient pencil/pen-to-paper technique introduced by our ancestors. Most have opted to use their plastic key devices instead, which has contributed to losing the truest intimacy- the written word.

Edouard Gentaz, professor of developmental psychology at the University of Geneva expressed- “Handwriting is a complex task which requires various skills – feeling the pen and paper, moving the writing implement, and directing movement by thought.” Handwritten letters have also declined in the era of technology and been replaced with e-mail and texting communication. Younger generations seem to be experts in typing on their devices and prefer that approach- but how will that serve them in the future? Handwriting experiences and emotions can also externalize internal feelings, an act that may help establish order out of chaos, sorting out thoughts and feelings stuck in limbo land and resolve inner and outer conflict. Journaling regularly can even possibly help manage depression and anxiety.

One in ten Americans suffers from depression at some point, and journaling has been shown to be an effective route to manage depression. The University of Rochester Medical Center, also acknowledges that journaling may assist to manage anxiety, reduce stress, and cope with depression, while helping prioritize problems and fears, track symptoms, and offer opportunities for positive self-talk.

Soulgift Journals advises that anyone who believes they are suffering from depression or anxiety speak to a medical professional to discuss other options that can be used in tandem with journaling, if needed.

With Soulgift Journals, users have a tangible way to express themselves that inspires them to do so.
