The opening of their new vineyard visits coincides with a recent article on Medium about the benefits of dry farming. As their journalists explained, dry farming is first and foremost a more sustainable method of farming. Moreover, when it comes to wine production, dry farming allows its practitioners to cultivate site-specific grapes that tend to be more intensely and richly flavored.
Because dry farming practices encourage vineyards to naturally subsist on the moisture from rainfall and in the fertile soil of the valley, Madonna Estate is confident that their blends, in particular the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that they are most renowned for, reflect the rich mineral composition and terroir of the Napa Valley and result in complex, expressive and full-bodied wines.
As such, Madonna Estate is proud to be officially opening its doors to avid wine drinkers who are interested in tasting the difference dry-farmed, organic grapes make to the final product. The winery is also welcoming tourists who are visiting Napa Valley and wine newcomers who want to find out what types of wine they like.
Guests at the Madonna Estate will be able to enjoy either an indoor or outdoor tasting under the guidance of Andrea Bartolucci, the head of the Bartolucci family and the head winemaker at the estate for the last 55 years.
All the wines that are available at the estate’s tastings are estate bottled, handcrafted and limited.
Madonna Estate was established in 1922 and has been in the hands of the Bartolucci family ever since. They pride themselves on their unique farming methods and passion for the finest handcrafted, personal wines.
