Abandoned as a baby Dewey B. Reynolds found out his parents were true modern day criminals
New York City, New York Dec 9, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Tell-All True Crime Book Chronicles Author's Interracial Parents' Dangerous Criminal Life During the 1960s
The true crime book by author Dewey B. Reynolds takes the reading and listening audience into the dramatically dark world of his interracial parents who challenged law enforcement, the Ku Klux Klan, rival gangsters, and street hustlers.
Two Shades of Vice: Based on the true story of an interracial couple's life together in crime, is the tell-all true story by author Dewey B. Reynolds. Dewey was inspired to write Two Shades of Vice after doing in-depth research into his parent's criminal lifestyle. Based upon police reports, criminal rap sheets, and eyewitness accounts from those who knew his Irish American father and African American mother best, he became inspired to write the story which tells how this interracial couple played a high-stakes game of living dangerously on the edge. They would eventually suffer from the vestiges of social isolation after expressing their undying love for one another.
"Having ended up in foster care at the infant age of six months, I became very eager to find information which told the real truth about how and why I became a ward of the state of Missouri," Dewey would often tell family members and friends. "And with the unveiling of the truth, I learned that it was my mother's and father's ongoing criminal lifestyle which put me there."
Kirkus Reviews says, "Reynolds skillfully captures the characters."
Several chapters of American and Kansas City, Missouri history are brought to the forefront, which details facts about how mixed-race couples in the 1960s were unlawful under the anti-miscegenation laws. Has America become far more tolerant of interracial couples? Are there still any social stigmas left that place relevant emphasis on the mixing of the white and black races? Find out in the true crime book which brings forth a story never told before.
