Meet Positives Explains The Accuracy Of At-Home Test Kits
Jul 10, 2019
July 10, 2019 - /PressAdvantage/ - The reason most people do not want to get tested is because they are afraid of the stigma and the embarrassment associated with the process of getting an STD test. Others just don’t want to know what they have because what they do not know will not hurt them. Fortunately, there are STD test kits that can be used at home. These are aimed at encouraging more people to get tested and know their status.
Meet Positives has introduced at-home STD test kits as a service on their website. This is to ensure that people get tested to reduce the spread of different STDs. “The ultimate goal in health is to have a healthy mind, body, and sex life. To protect your general health, you might want to get tested for STDs. When some STDs are left untreated, they can lead to complications. These complications can include certain cancers, reproductive health issues, and infertility,” said Jack Lombardi, the website founder.
Most people are worried about the accuracy of the at-home test kits. This is why the Meet Positives founder took the time to explain how accurate these tests are. “Research shows that home test kits are highly accurate with a sensitivity of 98% to 99% and a specificity of 95% to 98%. Fortunately, the home testing process is straightforward. Once you place the order, you will have your test kit within a short period (between 1 and 5 business day depending on where you are). The test kits, depending on the STD you are testing for will either be a urine collection kit, vaginal swab, or a pin-prick blood sample collection kit. Once you are done, you just need to send the sample to the lab using a prepaid postage box included in the package. Within a period of about 5 business days, you will receive an email informing you that you can view your test results online.”
