More details can be found at: https://islandsafetyacademy.com
With the impositions of social distancing policies, the recently revised program now incorporates online safety and health training courses, as well as safety program development and management, customized safety, health and environmental manuals, and on-site audits.
Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (1970), any business with employees must take reasonably appropriate steps to ensure that the workplace is free from known hazards. There are a number of steps that companies can take to ensure compliance with State and Federal laws.
One of the major steps that employers can take to create a safe and healthy workplace is to provide appropriate training. Island Safety Academy now provides a range of safety and health training services to help local businesses create a culture of safety within the workplace.
The services include an online training program, meaning that businesses not in the immediate locality of Island Safety Academy can still avail of the training services.
Safety and health training has a number of positive benefits for a business, namely contributing to employees’ competence in safety and health, avoiding workplace accidents, injuries or deaths, and meeting legal duties to provide a safe workplace.
In order to comply with OSHA requirements, companies are also required to have an adequate safety policy in place. This often includes training, but can also extend to the appointment of suitably qualified supervisors and regular risk assessments.
Island Safety Academy’s services now extend to the provision of consultations and site assessments to assist businesses in meeting with regulatory requirements. Company representatives will meet with and assist managers in preparing appropriate safety programs, as well as conducting site audits to alert the business of any areas that require rectification.
A company representative stated: “Island Safety Academy prides itself on being able to implement a safety culture and properly train individuals to maintain the high standards of safety they present to each and every job.”
