Ms. Thomas, who is based in Manhattan and heads her own firm, Thomas Legal Counselors at Law, LLC, is the appointed Abuse Guardian attorney for the State of New York, and in this capacity, she is committed to improving outcomes for the victims of sexual abuse throughout the state. It is with this aim in mind that she has launched a new specialist service to specifically support the young victims of daycare child sexual abuse.

In a high-cost city like New York City—which remains the US’ most expensive city and which, according to the latest figures from Forbes, remains tied as the most expensive city in the world—Kat Thomas, Esq. knows that it is very uncommon that a family can survive on a single income. This means that most young families in the city rely on daycare, often five days a week, and often for infant-aged children.

As such, she has seen that, sadly, the opportunities for abuse, neglect and other forms of maltreatment are rising.

Therefore, she is committed to working harder to support those families who have been the victim of daycare child abuse, child sexual abuse, or negligence. In addition to horrific crimes like child molestation and unwanted touching, Ms. Thomas can help those children who have endured an injury or trauma because of negligent behaviors like the failure to follow health and safety regulations or unsafe premises or equipment.

As the experienced attorney stresses, anything that causes harm to a child while they should be in the safe care of their daycare center is at best a breach of duty of care and at worst a crime; and, as such, she encourages parents to come forward and seek her assistance so that they can report and sue their center.

Should a family have a legal case, significant financial compensation may be available.

As Abuse Guardian explained, “Survivors of daycare negligence may be entitled to various types of compensation to help cover the financial, emotional, and physical consequences of the harm they have suffered.”

Kat Thomas, Esq. is pleased to now also be offering initial complimentary consultations, and she encourages families to book this initial meeting so they can speak about the facts of their case.
