Wyldlife Pets, Fort Lauderdale based natural dog treats brand, talks about the advantages of giving pets with natural dog treats as a probable solution to the alarming rise of pet obesity in the United States. Medical statistics revealed the increasing number of overweight cats and dogs in consistency over the past 6 years as related to unregulated diet and poor choice of pet food.
According to Colin Campbell, founder of Wyldlife Pets, the lack of education and awareness campaigns in relation to this topic can be blamed for the surge of obese pets. He added that if pet owners would not start partaking and continue to be careless about their pets’ diet, it can seriously place their dog’s life at risk.
“There are many reasons why pet owners give treats to their pets whether it’s given as a reward for good behavior or to encourage them to train. Some pet owners just give treats to pamper their dogs and express their love. However, treats for pets can be mostly unhealthy too especially if given at a frequency,” said Campbell.
Campbell advises pet owners to cut down on giving dog treats as a form of reward or make it a point to keep their fur babies active to burn the extra calories. He added that giving treats, be it dog food or leftovers on the table, can inevitably easy hence, it should be restricted to keep pets’ weight in check.
Pet owners’ choice of pet food should also be taken to account. “Fur parents should do their homework and research about the products they choose for their pets. Always read the labels and know what goes in that dog treat,” said Campbell.
He also promotes the support for natural dog treats as an alternative to ensure safety at all cost for pets. Natural dog treats contain ingredients rich in vitamins and anti-oxidants, which promotes boost in metabolism and overall wellness. These are also great in promoting good oral health and soothing of achy joints.
“A dog’s body has the same needs as that of humans. Feed him with the healthiest food items paired with exercise and regular trips to the vet can ensure their health,” said Campbell.
