Arizona Advanced Dental offers dental implants for adult patients with missing teeth
April 20, 2017 /MM-prReach/ —
Dr. Donald Clifford is helping dental patients in Mesa, AZ who have experienced tooth loss find a solution to once again having a permanent smile with the latest dental implant technology. Dental implants are the most effective solution for restoring patient’s smiles after tooth loss and in many instances can be even stronger and more effective than natural teeth. Dr. Clifford offers dental implants to patients who have a single missing tooth, a series of missing teeth, and even entire top and bottom arches of missing teeth.
A dental implant is a small titanium anchor, or screw, that is surgically implanted into the patient’s jawbone in the void of the missing tooth. This titanium implant acts as the natural tooth root once did, supporting the surrounding jawbone, gum tissues, and the attached tooth. The dental implant, once inserted and fused with the surrounding bone, is used to support an artificial porcelain crown that is custom designed to match the patient’s preferences. Together, the dental implant and crown restore full aesthetics and functions for a patient’s smile, allowing them to speak, smile, and chew confidently.
Other alternatives to dental implants, such as bridges and dentures, are somewhat effective in restoring lost permanent teeth, however, they still are not completely permanent and limit the patient’s ability to chew and speak in some instances. Additionally, bridges and dentures are not effective in keeping the bone and gum tissue healthy and viable because the bone and gum in the area of the missing tooth remains unused. Because they are implanted directly into the jaw bone and gum tissues, dental implants work to keep those tissues viable and the jaw bone from further deterioration.
With dental implants, patients have no eating restrictions as can be the case with dentures. Also, dental implants can be brushed and flossed just like natural teeth, yet are not susceptible to decay and cavities. Whether patients are missing a single tooth due to injury or decay, would like to replace a series of missing teeth, or have entire top and bottom arches of missing teeth and would like a more permanent option than dentures, dental implants can be the answer. Dr. Clifford offers consultations for all patients who are interested in dental implants, and can help determine if they are good candidates for this procedure.
