The expansion of urgent care services for children provides parents and caregivers with an affordable and accessible alternative to a hospital or ER. The medical care team at Amana Care anticipates increased cases of impetigo and other highly contagious low-risk skin infections during the summer months.
Impetigo is a bacterial infection caused by the Streptococcus and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, characterized by sores around the mouth, arms, and legs. The CDC explains that the illness is most common in children aged two through five, although adults with compromised immunity may be affected.
"Like adults, children can get hurt or become ill, sometimes requiring immediate medical attention," explains the team at Amana Care. "At Amana Care Clinic, you usually have shorter wait times, and the services are much more affordable. "
The Davenport walk-in urgent care clinic has well-appointed examination and child-friendly treatment rooms. Diagnostic services are supported by a laboratory and X-ray imaging capabilities.
The Amana Care website features a wait time indicator for the clinics in Davenport and Muscatine. Patients can now reserve their spot, avoiding long wait times. In addition, the clinic also offers patients telemedicine consultations for seniors or those who cannot travel to the clinic.
