A new guide by moving specialists Movers.com shares tips on the top five things needed when moving into a new home.

North Brunswick Township, United States - September 27, 2023 /PressCable/ —
While packing an easily accessible bag of essentials, with personal hygiene items and a change of clothes, is an obvious step for most movers, there are items that can be overlooked - but are nevertheless necessary when moving into a new home. Movers.com’s new guide covers the top five things everyone should have on hand the moment they enter their new home.
More information about Movers.com and the full guide can be found at https://www.movers.com/moving-guides/top-5-items-you-need-for-your-new-place.html
From a set of tools to cleaning supplies, Movers.com recommends packing these essential items in clearly labeled boxes and making them easily accessible at the new home so they can be unpacked first.
A toolbox is the number one essential, according to Movers.com, and should include basic tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, and wrenches. While professional repair services are easy to reach nowadays, the guide stresses that some issues may need immediate attention and can easily be fixed with basic tools. As such, movers should make sure to unpack their toolbox as soon as they arrive.
Movers.com also recommends thoroughly cleaning the home before unpacking and arranging the furniture. Basic cleaning supplies, such as sponges, disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and a bucket, should be unpacked as soon as possible - and the home should be cleaned from top to bottom, starting with dusting and vacuuming.
When it comes to unpacking room by room, the guide suggests starting with the kitchen. The boxes with kitchen supplies should be clearly labeled for easy unpacking - so basic pots, pans, and cutlery can be easily reached for a home-cooked meal even on the first night. The next room that should be unpacked is the bathroom, says Movers.com, followed by the bedroom.
"Make sure that along with all of your other necessities, you've packed away all of your bedding in an easily accessible place so you can unpack it when you arrive at your new home," explains the moving specialist. "If you have moved long-distance and your movers haven't delivered your furniture yet, an air mattress is a great temporary alternative to sleeping on your floor."
