May 8, 2023
Lincoln-Goldfinch Law founder and managing partner Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch discusses with KTRC Radio the fire at a migrant detention center in Juarez, Mexico, which resulted in the death of 40 men.
Austin, United States - May 8, 2023 /PressCable/ —
Austin Immigration attorney Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch was invited to speak with KTRC Radio Santa Fe about the fire that broke out at a migrant detention center in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.
On March 27, a migrant detained in the center allegedly started a fire in the facility. It led to the death of 40 people and dozens of individuals being injured.
In the interview, Kate mentions what appears to be the negligence of the guards, who are seen from a surveillance video leaving the center without opening the detention cell. This left migrants trapped inside as fire engulfed the cell.
She also sheds light on the humanitarian crisis happening at the border and how government policies can be improved to protect the rights of asylum seekers. Kate emphasizes how important it is to create solutions for immigrants who seek a better life.
