"He admired and respected frankness and assertiveness and began to see her as a young woman."
-- Johanka-Hart Tompkins
Slavka: The Daughters of Bohemia follows the coming of age of Venceslava Jilma, collectively known as Slavka. One of the six daughters of the Jilma household, Slavka is the eighteen-year-old charming and edgy daughter of a philharmonic concert violinist beaming with energy, ambition, and love for music and history.
Despite her young age, Slavka is determined and enthusiastic to take on the world. She landed a job in Rudolf Stolle's company, he is a decorated war veteran and the richest man in their town -- there, she learned something different day by day as she served as his secretary. Moreover, Rudolf introduced her to race car drivers and high-stake investors. Meanwhile, Slavka's lover is a young count named Jan who introduced her to passion and high society.
But unbeknownst to Slavka, fate seemed to have other plans for her. This newfound experience did not come without consequences. Unknowingly straying from the norms, Slavka invited a world of rumors of infidelity, jealousy, pride, and bribery. She began to suffer as her reputation was tarnished which eventually made her world crashing down. Life became a struggle as she fought her way through grief, betrayal, and hardship, but Slavka conquered her way from the shadows of despair and emerged as a changed woman who had not forgotten hope.
Follow Slavka's life and find out how her resilience and courage became one of the instruments to conquer an insurmountable obstacle. Book copies of Slavka: The Daughters of Bohemia are available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other booksellers online.
